Some of you may know that I launched a wooden jewelry Etsy shop called The Native Studio, for that reason I've been making a lot of tassel earrings and I wasn't satisfied with a regular knot, the ends were showing and it bothered me. I started searching for an alternative and found the cord…
Hey everyone, macrame is super trendy right now, as is everything natural and boho-inspired, so a lot o these pretty jars have been popping up on my Pinterest, seemed like an archivable project to get my hands on so I decided to make a tutorial on it as well. I choose to make a simple and quick pa…
This style is one of the easiest bracelets that you can make, so for those of you who don't know how or might be struggling, here's a step-by-step video showing you all the basics to create this type of friendship bracelet. Materials used:
3 meters of nylon cord, 0,5 mm thick.
Olá everyone!
Macrame keychains have been hugely on-trend, and I really like the look of them.
I already made one for my car keys and I think I'll hand another on my day-to-day backpack.
Instead of using a soft cotton cord like the most common ones out there, I decided to use waxed cotton cord…
Mesh bags are so simple, and there's probably already a ton of posts and videos about it, but still, I wanted to try and make them my style and in a way that you can personalize it. I ended up coming with these two styles, one with a pretty trim and another (faster to make) without it.
I haven't done a bracelet video in a while and whilst brainstorming ideas for my next video I came to youtube’s community tab for insights. The vast majority of you voted for macrame friendship bracelets, so get your threads ready because here they come!
I settled on 3 styles of bracelets all of them closing with a button and using waxed cotton cords. If you want them to have a more grown-up look you can make them with a satin or nylon cord and close with crimp ends and chain.
Once you get the hang of it you can make a bunch pretty quickly. Wear them yourself or share with friends, since I’m sure they will love them.
I recently acquired this adorable fiddle leaf tree and wanted to give it and also her succulent companion a new look, so I decided to experiment with rope and stitching, there are several ways to make rope vases, some are machine sewn or hand-sewn, but this colorful wrapping technique caught my eye on Pinterest. After 4 attempts to test out the stitching, I began to make the first cover, the blue one. I picked up several tips along the way, especially regarding the tension of the cord and how tight to make the knots which is all explained in the video below.
Summer is here are there's nothing better to wear on hot days than fresh tops (or dresses). I'm self-teaching me how to sew and I saw a vintage top that I wanted to try to recreate, so I grabbed a white cotton bedsheet from IKEA, took my measurements and went at it.
Olá everyone. Recently I’ve been stumbling upon these adorable draped bow scrunchies from a couple of stores like urban outfitters and free people.
They are the perfect project to use the scraps of fabric that I always feel super bad throwing away, they are still big enough to make something but it has to be pretty small, even if you don't have enough for the bow, you can just make the scrunchie bit.
Every time I find some craft idea that I want to try, I can’t seem to rest until I figure out how to make it, these coasters were the perfect example of that, I had done macramé bracelets before but making a round macramé was foreign to me. After exploring the internet after ways to create it, finding some confusing posts, and making my first coaster, I decided to make a video teaching how to make one as well. This is the way that I found easiest (though there is another one that I also tested) and also got me the prettiest result.
Supplies:
3 mm cotton cord
Something to hold the cords, either tape or as I used, a cork coaster or board.
Friendship style bracelets have been a hit both here on the blog, as well as on my youtube channel, so if you are still looking for more laidback summer style bracelets, this time I decided to try this string Pura Vida® inspired design.
It has been a week of vacation for me and the weather here in Portugal has been great to go to the beach, especially these last few days, we've been through a heat wave and it feels great to take a dive in the fresh ocean water.
A couple of months ago I wanted to make a dress with a gathered skirt, and since I'm a super newbie to sewing I had to ask my grandma how could I create that pretty ruffled effect. Although I've since realized there are a ton of online tutorials and posts on how to do it, I had never, unti…
Thinking about festival season? Or just fresh beachy outfits in general? This hairstyle is the perfect combo to your summer outfits. It's easy enough to pull off, since it's basically just a french braid with an added scarf and works great for both curly and straight hair. Depending on you…
Even though it seems that I've been making a lot of bracelets recently, one theme that I wanted to do for a while was Bracelets for Men and never actually got around to making a tutorial. So when my friend Helder asked me if I could make him some super stylish accessories I thought it was the perfect opportunity.
If you are looking for gift ideas for guys, maybe for valentine's, father's day or even Christmas, I think these are perfect, they don't cost that much, take little time to make and you can personalize the color and style to match their personality.
Of course, these are also perfect for girls to wear, no type of discrimination intended here ;) I also made an Infinity knot one for myself using red leather laces.
The supplies used in this project are from endlessleather.com, they kindly provided everything I needed to make these bracelets. I’ve used their leather cords in past projects, they are my favorite, the quality is really good, and the clasps are stainless steel, so they won't get damaged over time, which is great.
Hey everyone.
I think I've mentioned this before but, bracelets keep being one of my favorite crafts, along with recycling. It's such a simple thing to give as a gift and usually, they don't take that much time to make. That's actually why I learned how to make this 4 strand round braid style, a friend asked me for a leather bracelet and since I could not find something quite right, I decided to braid the cords myself.
Have you put up your holiday decorations yet? This recycled photo/card display is a great option if you are still looking for ideas. It will likely cost you no money if you already have tape and spray paint at home. You can make it as big as you want depending on the size of your cardboard or even with other shapes, perhaps a square for Christmas card display?
Upcycling wise, wine corks are one of the easiest materials to work with, they are easy to cut, lightweight and work great as jewelry pieces. I particularly like using them to make earrings, since corks are so light, the earrings made from it are super comfortable to wear all day round.
So here's how I made this recycled pair of jewelry:
It has been a while since I've made a home decor item, and there was an empty frame on my wall that definitely needed an artwork, so this was the perfect excuse to create this set of small and colorful home items. I ended up creating the so much needed artwork for the frame and two other items: a set of coiled paper jewelry dishes and a jar photo display. These are ideal if you're decorating on a budget, all of them cost me almost zero, except for the balloons and wooden skewers, which I just picked up from the supermarket and were pretty cheap.
The step-by-step photos are all stills from the detailed video of this project and if you would rather watch moving images you can watch that below.
