DIY 5 Different Square Knot Bracelets

Yay!! I've finally finished the largest video I've ever edited. I've filmed the process for all this bracelets and ended up with so much media that it didn't even fit my poor 16 gb card. Of course, I had to cut most parts off, otherwise this video would be super long.

This was also my first time filming myself, like I said in the video, I'm not used to it and it feels a bit weird talking to a camera, also on top of that speaking in English. So if you don't understand what the heck I'm saying at some point, blame the accent, not me.

DIY Painted Stone

Hi everyone, some of you might have noticed my absence in the past few days, I've had a problem with my internet connection and could not post the new printable I had prepared neither the top5. But finally everything is working properly now and I took advantage of my no internet time to make this project.

First of all for this project you are going to need a stone, I found this smooth surfaced one when I was at the beach last month, and it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to paint in it, there are endless possibilities. I took advantage of the shape of the rock and made the drawing fit in that area, this drawing is inspired by a tattoo I saw on Pinterest.

Make the drawing on your stone, if your drawing skills are not the greatest, you can also transfer it by printing the image with the right size, cutting around the edges of the image and tracing the shape onto the surface.

Start by painting with the lightest color first, I had to paint two coats of yellow. Take some time to look at your image properly, discovering which parts are darker and have more shades or volume.
I used orange and a light shade of brown to give dimension to the body of the fish.

Lastly, add details like the eyes and if you want to protect your design paint a thin coat of clear varnish spray.

I still have to figure out where to put this, maybe I could use it as a paper weight, any suggestions?

Back to basics // how to make a square knot

Probably most of you already know to make this simple square knot, but I'm planning on making a couple of bracelets using this technique, so for those who are not sure how to make it I've created this quick mini tutorial.

1. Take the pink left cord, cross it over the middle orange cord and under the right blue cord. Take the blue right cord, cross it under the middle and through the loop.

2. Now to the second half of the knot: cross the left pink cord over the middle and under the right.
Take the right blue cord, cross it under the middle and through the loop.
Tighten the cords, and your first square knot is completed. Super easy !

Have you made any projects using the square knot before? If you did send me a picture on Instagram @curlymade or twitter @Daniela_Curly.

DIY Upcycled Denim Bucket

Hi everyone, I'm so pleased how this project turned out. It is one of my favorite kinds of projects, 1st it's super inexpensive, I didn't have to buy any materials to make this and 2nd its a way to recycle your old denim jeans. I had already turned these into shorts last summer and saved the rest of the fabric to do something with.
This tutorial is the non-sewing version, but of course, you can sew it if you want.
I made a video tutorial of this project rather than the step-by-step pictures, I hope you don't mind, I really like to film and edit my videos.

These little buckets turned out even more usefull than I first thought, I can put all the small stuff laying around in my desk. What do you think, would you make one? What would you put in it? Let me know in the comments.

DIY Seashell Wind Chime // Goodbye summer

I know this is probably not the best time to do this kind of project since summer is almost gone, but last week I went to the beach and there were so many of these shiny shells, I though to make a wind chime. Maybe I should call this a goodbye summer project, since the weather is not so good anymore.

You will need:
Twine / Branches / Scissors / Hot glue gun / Shells

This kind of shell brakes easily, and I didn't have an appropriate tool to make the hole, that's why I chose to glue the shells instead.
First you will need to knot a piece on twine to the branch, leave the length as long as you want it to be, mine was about 7cm.

The shells are light weight and you don't want it to drip so use a small amount of glue to attach the shell.

Keep adding rows of shells, you can make as many rows as you want depending on the size of your branch.

To finish of just tie another piece of twine on both ends of the branch.

I hope you enjoyed this goodbye summer project,

DIY Easy To Make Ear Pins

Etsy has been one of my inspirations in the past week, I found so many pretty ear pins, these are one are my favorites. I really wanted to try and make my own, and was really surprised how simple it is, you can make a bunch in no time. One of the models is very similar to my DIY Minimal Bar Earings, if you haven't seen it check it out, those were also super easy to make,

Also, if you don't like ear pins you can wear them down like a normal earing, it looks just as good.

After sanding, the edge was still hurting me a bit, so because I'm lazy and didn't want to keep sanding some more I put a little bit of nail polish in the end.

Wich of the models is your favorite? The beaded one or the silver bar?

Chain Necklace Makeover

I've had this chunky chain necklace for a while now and didn't wear it because it was a bit too short for my taste. The material of the chain is actually plastic instead of metal, which makes it a lot lighter, but still it ended up hanging around in my room without any use, so it was makeover time for the necklace.

This is so simple that you are only going to need jersey yarn, pliers and chain or an old necklace.

1. Remove the clasp from the necklace.

2. Cut about 1.50 m or 2 m ( if you want to make a big bow in the back) of jersey yarn. Leave more or less 30 cm of yarn in one end (to tie the necklace later) and weave the rest around the chain links.

3. Tie the necklace around your neck to measure and cut the excess yarn. That's it your necklace is ready to wear.

Also, the pictures of me wearing the necklace were taken by my sister Mariana, she says she wants to be a photographer and she really has an eye for it. I would ask her if the picture was okay,  if the necklace was crooked or the hair in the way, and she would come over, put everything in place, go back a take a really nice picture.
I have to teach her camera settings one of these days :D

I hope you liked this little diy.

DIY Diamond Vase

I love making crafts up cycling materials that would end up on the nearest recycling bin otherwise. The last one I made using a glass jar was a candle holder for valentines day, so it is way past the time to make a new one. Really like the simplicity of the end result and how it matches every decoration, I could put it in anywhere in the house, but this one is currently sitting proudly on my bookshelf next to my divergent series.

To explain how to create one I've made a short step-by-step video that you can watch bellow.

If you are wondering where did I get the "explore" picture on the frame, I found it on Pinterest.

Thanks much everyone for the sweet comments you've been leaving on my posts and for following, it means the world to me.
